A Message from the
Leadership of Colorado Association of Funders

We are pleased to share this new report with you. Seeing Potential, Creating Change highlights a few of the many compelling stories on how foundations, working in partnership with committed individuals and organizations across Colorado, have strengthened the fabric of our state.

From health and education, to arts, the environment, land preservation and more, foundations work closely with nonprofit and public sector partners to identify gaps and meet today’s needs, and to develop innovative, far-reaching solutions to address some of our toughest problems. Indeed, the tradition of philanthropy in Colorado runs deep; the first United Way in the country launched in Denver well over a century ago. Today, we are fortunate to have a strong foundation community that works together to bring about comprehensive, meaningful change.

In our busy lives, and particularly in today’s difficult economy, it’s important to remind ourselves of the good work that continues to make Colorado a place we are proud to call home. We hope this report will help inform and inspire all of our partners – grantmakers, elected officials, nonprofits and many others across our diverse state. We look forward to sharing our stories.

Sincerely,

Joanne Kelley
