2010 forecast and giving study released

Seeing PotentialWe are pleased to release our new impact report "Seeing Potential, Creating Change" chronicling the role of foundations in Colorado. Be sure to look for the "Seeing Potential" tab in the inroduction for a look at the variety of foundations that have been created in Colorado over the decades. 
 
In addition, we've released our giving study showing total giving continuing to rise in the latest reporting period as well as expected giving in 2010 to be just as much or more according to our 2010 forecast

A recording of the most recent Introduction to Philanthropy In/Sight webinar is now available on the CAF website (login required). Philanthropy In/Sight is the Foundation Center's new data visualization mapping platform that is offered free of charge to CAF members for 1 year.

Foundations on the Hill
CAF will be visiting with Colorado's congressional delegation and staff next month during Foundations on the Hill (FOTH), an annual two-day legislative and public policy event in Washington, D.C. Please let us know if you or any of your colleagues plan to attend. 
 
Estate tax end cuts into charity funding

A decision by Congress to let the estate tax expire has taken an incentive away from America's very rich to include charities in their will. Read more.

For L3C companies, profit isn't the point
At least five states are currently considering legislation (a bill has been introduced in Colorado) enabling companies to incorporate as an L3C, which is generally defined as a taxable for-profit business. Learn more

New web platform encourages foundation transparency
A new website, www.glasspockets.org, launched by the Foundation Center, shows foundations that have taken the lead in communicating about their work, using online resources and social networks.

2009 Colorado Health Report Card Released

The Colorado Health Foundation has released the results of a health report card giving the healthy children life stage a D+.         

$7.5 million for student business ehtics initiative
Daniels Fund has launched a $7.5 million initiative between eight universities across the Rocky Mountain region to further strengthen principle-based business ethics education for students. Read more.
